Sarah Valentine - Director
After graduating from Bournemouth film school in the UK, Sarah started working in the Movie and Television industry at the age of 18,
spending time in London, Australia, New Zealand and Los Angeles. She came to New Zealand in 1995 and continued to pursue her acting
career whilst working as a casting director for both television programmes and feature films. Lord of the Rings fever hit New Zealand at
the beginning of 1999 and Sarah recruited 300 extras in preparation. The agency she always wanted to start, to help other people's
dreams come true was formed as Background Talent. It is now recognised to be one of New Zealand's leading extras agencies. Sarah retains
a hands on involvement with the agency and is constantly bringing fresh ideas in extras casting to the New Zealand film industry.

Gemma Barlow
Prior to arriving in New Zealand in 2002, Gemma was actively involved in the english theatre scene. Gemma was originally recruited to be an extra for
Background Talent and on realising her merits was convinced by Sarah and Hazel to join the team as a booker during her year off study. Gemmas has not only
participated but directed in-house productions at her school in New Zealand, coming second in the National Stage Challenge. She also directed Romeo and
Juliet for the Shelia Winn Shakespeare competition. Talent often get the opportunity to meet Gemma on set as she is regularly requested to participate in
various productions. Gemma is currently studying for a BA in Classics and French at Auckland University.

Leigh Eade
Though the newest member to the Background Talent team, Leigh is the most invaluable. Leigh has joined as our financial controller and has turned our
accounts office into a den of efficiency. Coming from a more traditional work placement to the Film and TV world, Leigh adds a dynamic of stability to the
office. Though once persuaded to go in front of the camera, Leigh has made the decision not to do anymore performace work and instead concentrate on
managing the office accounts as well as assisting the bookers.
